How to Use the Catalog

  • Follow the hyperlink to OPAC on the home page, or enter the address in your browser:
  • Use the default display for simple searches.  Enter a search term and select the search type:  author, title, subject, or keyword.  Click on the Go button, or Enter on you keyboard.  When searching for an author, the last name may suffice, or add the initial or full name in reverse order: (Jakes, John) or (Jakes, J).
  • For more complex searches involving more than one criteria, or to limit criteria, select Search on the drop-down menu.  Then choose Combo or Expert for entering multiple search criteria.
  • For a list of the latest materials in the library, select Visual Search on the drop-down menu, and then select the Recent Additions icon.
  • My Account on the drop-down menu provides internet access to personal account information (what materials you have checked out, and the ability to renew them within set renewal limits).  To access this feature, you must request a personal identification number or password at the library.  The library does not maintain records of numbers or terms chosen, so we cannot remind you if it is forgotten.  You would need to request a replacement, in person, with proper identification.
